A 40-day prayer and promotion campaign has commenced in preparation for the launch.
About the Platform The Laudato Si' Action Platform is a major grassroots effort to mobilize Catholics worldwide to put into action the message of integral ecology in Francis' 2015 encyclical, "Laudato Si', on Care for Our Common Home," during a decade scientists say is critical for global responses to climate change and other environmental destruction. The platform outlines specific actions and goals for Catholics across seven sectors — families, parishes and dioceses, religious orders, educational institutions, health care centers, economic institutions and lay organisations — and invites groups to complete them within a seven-year period. A United Religious Voice on Climate Change
On Monday, 4 October, Feast of St Francis, at “Faith and Science: An Appeal for COP26” in Rome, Pope Francis and almost 40 religious leaders of many faiths signed a joint appeal to governments to commit to ambitious targets at the upcoming U.N. climate conference, COP 26: "We plead with the international community, gathered at COP26, to take speedy, responsible and shared action to safeguard, restore and heal our wounded humanity and the home entrusted to our stewardship," the faith declaration said. "We appeal to everyone on this planet to join us on this common journey, knowing well that what we can achieve depends not only on opportunities and resources, but also on hope, courage, solidarity and good will." The message was sent on the occasion of a panel of discussion on environment and human rights organized by the Council’s Assembly in preparation for the COP26 on climate change.
