1 September was proclaimed a Day of Prayer for Creation by the late Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitrios I in 1989 in 1989 and repeated by Pope Francis in 2015. The season takes us through to the feast of St. Francis on 4 October.
Pope Francis and Patriarch Bartholomew released their messages for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation in 2016, starting the month-long Season of Creation celebrations. Their messages are available here.
The Season of Creation 2025 theme is Peace with Creation – Isaiah 32:14-18. The symbol for 2025 is ‘The Garden of Peace’.
