Earth Day 2021 takes place on Thursday, 22 April. The theme of this year's Earth Day is 'Restore Our Earth'. There are many resources available to mark this day and to learn more about how we, both individually and communally, can address climate change and environmental destruction. These can be found in many places including here on the Earth Day website.
The Mercy Global Presence (MGP) process provides a wealth of resources on Earth themes: ‘Earth and Integral Ecology’ (Segment 1), ‘Mercy and Degradation of Earth’ (Segment 2) and ‘Presence to Earth’ (Segment 3). These have been created by Theologians, Scientists, Artists, Practitioners...a range of contributors looking at the issues through their own lens. The conference was held over three days between March 15-17, bringing together a range of international speakers including theologian/biologist Dr Celia Deane Drummond of the Laudato Si’ Research Institute in Oxford, Professor Brian Swimme, mathematical cosmologist from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and Archbishop of Suva, Fiji, Peter Loy Chong. Sr Adele Howard rsm gave the Opening Address to the Laudato Si'+ Conference.
There are 12 videos available for viewing. An overview of the conference and each of the videos can be found here The Vatican Observatory, 'an institution established by the Holy see for astronomical research and public outreach to advance the scientific understanding of our universe' has launched a website and podcast
